SCUFan wrote: It's still tonight ... so here goes ... These are not your Father's (or Mother's) Broncos ... and they scored more than 64 points ... thank goodness. BIG John was his usual "quiet" self with a double-double ... and almost a double-double rebound night 8 off / 12 def. Joining him in the "quite" zone was Jr-Tsfr P-Squared ... Mr. Perry Petty of Milwaukee, Wisc. .... but more on that later ... The evening started with the traditional three guard offense ... Santos, Rahon, and Johnson ??? ... ok who's the PG? Rahon ??? and the scoring from the backcourt was 1 trey and a duce from CJ and TEN from the afore mentioned Mr P^2 ... on just two shots from the field and 4 for 6 from the line ... to lead all Bronco scorers in the first stanza ... and of note was Marc Trasolini who made things happen in his 7 first half minutes including an Offensive rebound on a missed Bronco FT (I'm thinking Trav ... Officer Niesen ... like intensity) ... actually TRAZ repeated that hustle at least three more times in the second half as he wound up with seven boards (5 offensive) in 22 minutes of action ( oh and he was 2 for 2 from the field in those seven 1st half minutes) also of note was Kevin Foster who was 1-2 (a trey) and a rebound in 3 minutes of first half action ... at least that's what the "unofficial" official stats had ... Kevin wound up with 29 minutes according to my "revised" official final stats ... so in the 26 ??? minutes of second half action he went 1-1 from the field, 2-2 from the line, picked up another board (off), had a TO and a Steal, and lost a PF (did I mention the copy I have was "revised"?) in any case Mr. Foster looks very good and I think we will be seeing more of him ... and he has a VERY nice arc on his free throw ... and speaking of free throws Mr. Petty was 6 for 8 in the second half ... did I mention the Otters out fouled the Broncos 12 to 4 in the first half (double bonus in less than 10 min) ?? and 25 to 8 in the second half ??? with the Broncos only converting on 34 of 52! attempts ... obviously the southern hemiphere thing is still a problem (do basketballs circle the other way in the hoop down-under??) as Ben continues to struggle from the line with just 6 of 13 ... but he still finishes well and add those 6 to his 4 for 5 from the field and his 14 pts in 45 minutes (oops those stats again) work out to a 60.9% compleation rate ... (how's that for a positive spin ???) oh and "quiet" Perry Petty ??? ... at the end of the game the "scoreboard" showed he let all Bronco scorers with 20 and five steals ... he offset his four TOs with four assists ... the same as Troy Alexander's 4 dimes but then P^2 had "44" minutes to do it to Troy's 12 and CJ started slow (1-3 from 3 in the 1st half) but seemed to take it personal as the scrappy (and somwhat mouthy) Sea Otters continued their 3 assault (7-15 in the 1st half) by going 3 for 4 in the second half for a final 14 pts, 3 assists, 1 TO and 2 steals. --- the Broncos left some MB shooters uncovered ... and then they also made some less than high percentage looking attempts as well James Rahon continues to struggle and was 0-4 from behind the arc in the first half ... but made his single deep attempt in the second and was 1 of 2 from short range with the 2 pointer coming on a power move to the hoop. He held on to the rock and took one away from the kelp bed ferrets. Perhaps the most "impressive" stats of the night came in the basura time which actually wasn't ... with about 1:01 left in the contest KK cleared the bench and Nate Mensah and Phillip Bach happily joined the fray with #33 the Bach-meister sinking both of his free throws (more frantic Otter offensives) and adding a steal to his impressive stats line. for a less complete recap of the contest you are directed to the "Official" site ... GO BRONCOS !!! -- 30 -- btw ... the Broncs will be running at practice as they lost the rock 16 times (against the Otters 18 slip-ups) |

I enjoyed the game description, but "Kelp Bed Ferrets" will be a classic when CSMB develops real rivals.

while I deeply appreciate the number of letters received on the identification of the Enhydra lutris (aka Sea Otters)
they most correctly should be identifed as the heaviest members of the weasel family
but in the early hours of this morning I may have malined them as associating them with their cousins of the type Mustela putorius furo (aka ferrets) elongated
carnivorous mammals belonging to the family
Mustelidae (weasels) and a very close relative of the polecat.
therefore the more "PC" usage would be "kelp bed weasels" and an apology to ferrets everywhere may be in order but for those less scientifically inclined "kelp bed ferrets" might also be "acceptable" usage .... GO Broncos !!
