Posts: 380 08/03/08 20:03:35 Moderator	Tags : None ESPN, Rivals and Hoopmasters have all reported that Raymond Cowels of Minneapolis Hopkins-- the same school that brought SCU Mitch Henke and Coach James Ware-- has committd to SCU. Cowels is a physical 6'4" wing rated three stars by Rivals. ESPN noted some need to work on his handle and shot, but noted promise, strength and athleticism in a December 2007 evaluation. Posts: 381 08/05/08 14:22:00 Moderator	On the Trail Archive Raymond Cowels pledges to WCC (Aug4) Santa Clara has won a recruiting battle for shooting guard Raymond Cowels over Iowa, Northwestern, St. Louis, Loyola-Chicago and Wisconsin-Green Bay, among others. The 6-foot-4 prospect averaged 16.5 points as a junior. The name of Cowles' game is shooting, according to ESPN.com's Paul Biancardi. "Cowles is a deadly accurate shooter," Biancardi said. "He can really stretch the defense with his ability to knock down three pointers." Biancardi notes Cowles is a also a terrific defender. "Raymond is a very good on-the-ball defender who also understands the concept of help side defense," Biancardi said. "He plays very hard and knows how to win." Biancardi thinks this is a steal for Santa Clara and head coach Kerry Keating. "What a terrific pick up for coach Keating," he said. "This kid is a winner who decided to skip the summer AAU season in order to stay home and work on his fundamentals. His dedication to the basics of the game are impressive." Posts: 3 02/25/09 09:52:42	Next year we'll have Trasolini (6'9), Thompson (7'0), Harrison (6' and Cunningham (6' to rotate in the post positions. Young yes, but I wouldn't say tiny. Would be nice to have one more banger but this is a decent start. Dowdell can also defend some 4's .

I was unaware those two newbies are each 6-8. KK does tend to like small and fast over big and slow though, right? Man is this going to be a change from the past.

Posts: 440 02/25/09 10:50:30 Moderator	According to a number of articles, Cunningham is now 6'10". However, as with College v. NBA heights (see Kevin Love), we'll see when he arrives.
