Traz big @ NH in the first half |
Lead | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Found a video feed of the NH game at their website late in the first half. Bryant held to 4 ponts in the first half; Foster scores only 3 (but had a nice
assist at the end of the half). Traz: 13 points and 6 rebounds. Still ugly in the TO department--12 turnovers. Petty continues to stagnate the offense
(although he made a nice pass to Foster for three)

Santos and Petty! Seriously? It's like Keating either dosn't know what hes doing or dosn't like his job.

Petty's line:
And stats don't tell the whole story. As was noted earlier, the offense grinds to a halt when he pounds the ball; the NH Play by play guy remarked a coupe times about P2's questionable decisions. 19 Turnovers, numerous missed free throws. Bryant seemed off his game, (although NH rotated into their double teams really well) and missed 3-4 free throws. Dowdell missed the front end of a couple 1 and 1's. Given how Rahon struggled, Keating might have been well served to play CJ a bit more for his "D", as even the NH announcers remarked how he was able to slow down Abreu (who hit 7 threes and was unconscious). DWhite's line consisted of one missed shot and 3 TOs. Foster had some good moments, but needs to work on his close out. Traz was the lone consistent bright spot: 24 and 10. |

Allow only 58 points and you should get a win. Unfortunately, we started both halfs a combined minus 10 (5 in each half) and spent the rest of the game just
trying to catch up. To start the game we didn't get our first shot until almost 4 minutes in and that was two free throws. Five minutes into the game we
had no field goal attempts and four free throw attempts. Ouch!
It is hard to believe that this is the same team that put 83 on Belmont and 89 with an extra frame on UTEP. I was afraid that Petty's play in the Cable Car was an anomly and it was. Petty takes has many shots as Bryant and that is always a problem. Foster gets his but Rahon walks away with only two shots and limited touches. Traz keeps us in the game with numerous offensive put backs. Without the offensive rebounds, we have just over 30 field goal attempts in the entire game. This is all against the 3-7, now 4-7, New Hampshire Wildcats. If we don't right this ship quickly, I see four straight losses to start league and a six game losing streak in our future. |

I wish he kept Gunderson around instead of giving that scholarship to Santos. That was clearly a mistake in retrospect as Gunderson, while not a PG either,
would probably be our best PG option at this point.
Keating's picked up some nice recruits in Traz, Foster, Alexander (at least I think when healthy) and Rahon (though he's not totally proven yet either I think he' be very good). But he's also made some mistakes in the aforementioned Santos/Gunderson situation and Petty and White both look mediocre so far. In the future, Keating won't have so many spots to fill and won't have the luxury of being able to make as many recruiting errors. Realistically, the conf season will be tough this year, and next year - unless some freshman turn out to be instant players - could be worse. That being said, I'm still confident Keating will do well in the long run. |

Gunner v. Santos | #5 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
gobroncs wrote: Gunner would not be an option at PG, does not have the quickness to ward off quicker point guards defending him bringing the ball up court. In fact, the Broncos will be in big time trouble if any team decides to use full court pressure. Of course, with a lack of consistent inside/outside game, defenses don't need to worry about a full court press or trap, just get back on defense and pack it in. |
