You should be able to see it. It appears to be free.
http://insider.espn.go.com/ncb/recruiting/tracker/player?recruitId=53895&action=upsell&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fncb%2frecruiting%2ftracker%2fplayer%3frecruitId%3d53895 "September, 2007: Smith is one of the most dynamic passers in the class of 2009 and should be considered one of the top ten point guard prospects in the West for his class. Smith has improved immensely over the last couple of years and he's gotten taller as well. He is now considered one of the top five point guard prospects in the West Coast class of 2009. He possesses a strong physique with quick hands and feet. He is one of the better lead guards who excels in the transition game - has great speed and gets rid of the ball quickly. He has a great handle and is quite explosive off the bounce. Smith is a true point guard as well and looks to get his teammates involved. He has a solid feel for the game and rarely makes bad decisions. One area of concern is his jump shot - though it has improved since his sophomore year. He gets solid lift on his shot and he gets it off fairly quick, but he needs to work on its trajectory (pretty flat shot). Overall, Smith is progressing and should get some mid-high division one looks next year. " From another site..."Perris' Robert Smith might be the fastest rising prospect of the bunch. The quick-footed point guard is extremely tough to defend, and Smith has been drawing comparisons to Oregon's Aaron Brooks."

Thanks for the find 04. I looked him up on Scout and they list him as a three star. Looks like Kerry is doing what he does best.

I posted earlier in the "Forum" section:
Robert Smith 5-11 JR PG Perris (Calif.) High, has commited to SCU. He had interest from Pac 10 schools and offers from CAL and USC. "They offered me a few months ago and I just committed today," said Smith. "They made me feel comfortable -- it was like a family." This is a big get for the Broncos, as Smith is currently our top-rated 2009 point guard |

More on Smith from ESPN.....
Francisco thinks Smith had high-major potential which makes this a huge score for head coach Kerry Keating. "Smith has the ideal size, strength and quickness to be a high-major Division I point guard," he said. "His ball handling is very tight and he does an excellent job of keeping the ball low. His jump shot has improved since his junior year, but he needs to continue to hone that area of his game. He is a true point guard who sets up his teammates in transition or in the half-court set. He is also excellent at penetrating and kicking out to open 3-point shooters." Francisco also thinks Smith will make an immediate impact for the Broncos on the defensive end. "He is a solid defender, utilizing his quick hands as
he recorded a number of steals througuhout the year," Francisco said. "If Smith can take care of the basketball at a more efficient rate and continue
to smoothen out his stroke, he should turn out to be one of the top point guards in the nation for the class of 2009 and have an immediate impact for the
Bronco program when he arrives."

Recently signed JC recruit Perry Petty fills the immediate need (08/09). Much like this year I suspect the backup duties will be by committee...potentials
include Rahon, Foster and Alexander. If Smith is all he's cracked up to be then he may supplant Petty as the starter in 09/10.

Umm, in following 04's link, the headline on scout says he's reconsidered his commitment. Too bad. The question is, can I still blame Vance Walberg?

Better that the young man change his mind now than during the fall signing period. Any thoughts where the two remaining scholarships go for this period? My
guess is a wing and a big.

First George and now Smith change their mind...I guess we shouldn't get too excited until a recruit signs a LOI. Even though Scout still shows Smith with interest in Santa Clara, I wouldn't hold my breath...I doubt there have been many recruits who ultimatly sign a LOI with the same school they previously backed out of a verbal with. Plus we're competing with BCS schools. Hopefully Alexander will turn out to be a decent PG or maybe Foster can meet that need though he seems more like a combo guard. Another possibility for a back-up point next year is Dominic Johnson...he's a walk-on but I was impressed with how he handled himself against Gonzaga in a hostile environment in Spokane when he filled in for an injured Brody. He needs to work on his right hand and I have no idea if he has a perimeter shot or not but at least he showed some athleticism, and ability to handle the rock and break down his defender off the dribble.

That's too funny (not really). I read this the first time and almost posted, any kid who's getting that much attention isn't going to hold to Santa
Clara once UCLA, etc come calling.

Bad info | #11 | ||
|
I don't peruse the recruting sites or scouting info, but how does info like get reversed in two days? Did Smith really change his mind (totally possible,
he's a junior in high school, they change their minds like they change socks)? Was it bad info/reporting (totally possible, recruiting is a sleazy
environment, rumor, statements out of context, "a source close to the family" are king)?
92Bronc is probably right, until we see the LOI, don't believe it. On tripbill's comment: "any kid who's getting that much attention isn't going to hold to Santa Clara once UCLA, etc come calling." Probably true, but isn't that what we're paying KK the big bucks for? |

Will they even use the two scholarships or just save them for next year? Not sure how much is out there at this point. Maybe looking International?

I could be missing something but per the link above (reposted below) it still shows him as a verbal to Santa Clara:

re: Bad info | #15 | ||

I've posted this a couple times before so I'll summarize. re: What we're paying KK for It will be very difficult if not impossible for SCU to get Gonzaga like success and thus recruits. GU is the only game in town in a decent sized metro
area. They are lead story on sports, get big corporate sponsors, etc. A large number of their fans are not Gonzaga alums. Everyone in town knows who the
basketball players are. SCU has multiple D1 schools to compete with along with their FB teams and all the pro sports. Gonzaga gets recruits that often have
offers from BCS schools. I doubt we'll see that at SCU. Maybe KK will get better 2nd tier recruits than DD did. We'll have to wait and see. His
first class on paper didn't appear much better than past classes. We'll have to see how good they are once they arrive before passing judgement.
