This post is a bit of a rant with a lot of overstatements but you do have a few good points, namely, adding Mganugo to the long list of kids that Keating has run out of SCU.

As for playing at a faster pace, I would like to have seen more of that too but I'm cautiously optimistic we will see more of that next year with Bryant gone.

Abysmal is fair adjective to describe Keating's sideline behavior. His radio interviews are actually quite positive. Anyone know what...

Keating brought White in and he was a bust. He also brought Petty in who also disappointed. My point was that this somewhat offsets the 4 talented freshman he brought in.

3 of the 6 guys he brought in are gone after 1 year. That's unprecedented.

Regardless of the reason for his departure, this is a major loss, and anyone who thinks otherwise is deluding themselves. The proof is going to be in how KK responds to this development. Does he alter his coaching style to avoid alienating MORE players? Or does he go more hardcore "my way or the highway" approach? Hopefully the incoming freshman are special players that can start right away, and hopefully 2011-2012 season, and 2012-2013 season are truly special years. -b

white was not a JC transfer...unless you consider texas tech and former coach Bobby Knight a junior college.

And in Keating's defense, White was out of shape all season, brought a poor attitude to the floor and had a head/ego way bigger than his game. Sure, he was good at Serra but nothing out of this world. I don't know why he thought he would fit in with Keating if he couldn't cut it with Knight.

I find this to be a very optimistic spin.

1) Rahon would have been the 2nd best player on our team. He was one of the top freshman in the conference and could possibly have been an all conference player next year and LIKELY an all conference player the following 2 years.

2) For the better part of 10 years now we have played with 3 guards, and he fit perfectly into that 3rd guard role since he is 6'4" and can shoot.

3) players don't play 40 minutes,...

Certainly we would still like to have Rahon on the team but from a physical standpoint, Cowels will be a much better compliment to Foster. He might not score as much but I think we can be pretty certain he will defend and rebound better.

This is truly strange. He got plenty of minutes, plenty of points and apparently plenty of green light to take his shots. He was on the All-WCC Freshman team. How bad could things be (I ask, not sure I'm wanting to know the answer)?

Maybe he's got people telling him that he can be a star in a power conference. Maybe KK rode him too hard. Maybe it's both.

Sitting behind the SCU bench when an earlier coach was watching his undertalented team being excoriated by the Walton/Wilkes UCLA team. Oy! Such angry and foul language during the TO's from coach! The point being: CW improved and mellowed as a coach as time went on. He was never Tony Bennett of WSU on the bench but he definitely calmed some with age. Keating can too. I'm wondering if KKs initial coaching contact, PJ Carlisemo, has made more of impression than he should have--final...
